The Story of the New Testament

REVIEW

1. Pray and ask the Spirit to fill you afresh.
2. See if you can walk through the basic storyline of the Old Testament (Remember the 8 eras starting with creation?).
3. What are the 4 ways we can divide up the books of the New Testament?
4. Can you remember the basic the storyline of the bible? (We summed it up in 4 movements starting with “redeems/rescues".)

APPLY

1. Consider all of the benefits you enjoy every day because you live on this side of the New Testament and Jesus’ 1st arrival.
2. The book of Acts give us a backbone for the storyline of the N.T. and can be divided into 6 sections with the 5 summary verses (6:7, 9:31, 12:24, 16:5, 19:20). Each summary verse contains 2 elements: the believers were “strengthen in the faith” (“increase”) and the church “multiplied”.
       *What would it look like for you to be “strengthen in the faith”?
       *What would it look like for you to strengthen someone else in the faith?
       *In what specific way and with what specific people do you believe the Spirit has sent you to so the church will multiply? If you find this question difficult to answer PLEASE read and practice Acts 13:1-3.
3. The O.T. and N.T. end the exact same way…God’s people waiting for Jesus! In the O.T. they waited for His first appearing and now we wait for His second appearing. In what specific ways do you need to repent (change) in order to be better prepared and ready for Jesus second arrival?
4. Spend a few minutes meditating on and praying Revelation 22:20-21

“He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!” The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you all. Amen
